Consider Academic Expeditions' "Summer Ventures" for a more intimate and intensive travel experience

Just as the students who have traveled with us in the past have aged and matured, our Summer Ventures programs are designed to reflect that maturity with greater physical and cultural immersion into the destinations visited.  Both our domestic and international tours are meant to foster in our travelers a greater sense of global and environmental responsibility and confidence to become independent travelers and enlightened citizens of this world.

How does a Summer Venture differ from an Academic Expeditions tour you might have already experienced?
1.  Students come from different schools, backgrounds and regions, so mingling with your fellow travelers is part of venture. These trips are not affiliated with any specific school or teacher, but are made available to students and their families directly during the summer break.
2.  Students tend to be older - high school and entering college – and thus we expect more of them both physically and intellectually: to be challenged through outdoor recreation and to observe and discuss complex cultural dynamics and history.
3.  Students learn greater traveling skills so that they are more confident to study abroad or take a gap year during college.  With their leader as a guide, they’ll use public transportation, have responsibilities and a voice in trip decision making, travel light and mobile with a backpack, and enjoy the fellowship of travel through unique local lodging or homestays.

So, if you are a high school student, or a parent of such, looking for an exciting and challenging immersion into destinations rich in environmental and cultural diversity, to gain a greater sense of confidence and community while traveling, then check out some of our 2012 Summer Ventures below and contact our Director of Education Isaiah Mosteller to register or get more information.
